The Dancing Body and Mind; Performing and Composing with Maya M. Carroll

An extended two-week course for dancers, choreographers and physical performers; exploring techniques, practices and perceptions through the dancing body and mind. Approaching physical gestures, forms and configurations as a language through which we witness and recognize a multitude of stories, drama, photographic / painted images and rhythmic / musical qualities; the workshop places an emphasis on embodiment in performance and composition. It draws upon powerful states of presence, imagination and reflections which we create in our choreographic materials; in response to realities, narratives, memories and events that we live within. The study encourages individual work as interpreters / creators; guiding towards larger constellations and group pieces. The course is open for professionals who wish to engage with an in-depth work process as dance makers and / or physical and dance performers.
